How to play Pyramid Solitaire

Choose a round of Pyramid Solitaire and settle into its rules. Remove all 28 pyramid cards. Use the example below to understand a decision. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Pyramid, stock and waste; one stock recycle. Free solo play, no wagering.

Read before acting

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Keep the objective visible.

Your goal

Remove all 28 pyramid cards. Read that aim before choosing your first action. The example below illustrates a decision.

Step by step

  1. Only uncovered cards are selectable. Pairs total 13; a king removes alone.
  2. Click an exposed card or eligible pair to remove it.
  3. Draw when useful.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Controls

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Read the example below alongside these instructions.

A useful example

An exposed queen pairs with an ace; a jack pairs with a 2. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Take a moment to compare.

Watch out for this

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Read the feedback to see why an action did not have the expected result. Locate the buttons and input area before beginning a long round. Use the on-screen labels to avoid an accidental restart.
